The protection of the floor and furniture, if the apartment is occupied, is very important to avoid any damages and stains during any renovation project. This is the very first stage. You can see how the floor was protected at the beginning of our work.
In the picture aboveThe wall next to the heater, or radiateur, is to be demolished, and repaired.
Demolition seems a simple task, but it is not the case always. During the first visit, it was agreed that the wall will be demolished up to the ceiling. However, in the living room, as it can be seen, there was mold, or corniche, between the wall and the ceiling. Indeed the mold could be removed but it would not have looked good. Therefore, it was decided to cut the wall 10cm below the mold.
Due to the presence of two pipes, aesthetically it would not have been nice to demolish the entire wall. Just imagine, two pipes hanging in the future living room. So, we had to cut the wall accordingly.
Then, there was another wall heater, or radiateur, which our clients liked to keep. Therefore, the wall has to be cut accordingly and repaired afterwards.
Once, the details were finalized, we started the demolition process. We used the doors, which were to be thrown away later on, to protect the floor where the debris was very likely to fall. Although parquets were to be renovated later on, the pieces of the debris could damage the parquets, if they were not protected by a hard material..
Some electric wires passed through the demolished wall, which needed to be checked and repaired so that electric wires continue to function as before.
After the demolition of the wall, some empty space can be seen on the floor. It is to be filled by the concrete so that parquets can be installed on the empty place.
The next stage involved the repairs of the walls, ceilings, and of the parquet floors.
Clients wanted installation of electrical outlets, just above the kitchen table to facilitate the use of electric appliances in the kitchen. kitchen table is properly protected with a thick plastic sheet before starting the work.
Darker stains on the floor show the areas which were repaired. After the sanding and vitrification, they will become invisible. Have a look at the pictures..
