Renovation of a studio apartment in Paris 17 | demolition, tiling, painting, parquets & kitchen renovation
On this page, you will find the “renovation project of a studio apartment in 17th district of Paris”. This renovation project involved different skills and trades. Therefore, it required systematically carrying out the 'renovation' project.
You may have noticed that the “plumbing and electric modifications” were done, before the demolition of the tiles on the wall. It was done for a specific purpose. New tiles were to be installed on the wall, and the problem was that the wall was not really straight. Therefore, the tiles were left while installing the new pipes so that they can help to keep the right level. Thus, after the installation of plumbing pipes, wall tiles were removed. The floor tiles were left for the reason as explained above.
New skirting boards are put to replace the damaged ones.
We ordered the tiles when we started the project. As we were finished with the repairs, electric and plumbing modifications – the tiles arrived. So finally the floor tiles were removed. After the tiles are removed, as you can see in the picture, the floor is not really even. Therefore, we had to do a very thin layer of the concrete, which in French is called as “RAGREAGE”. So that the surface is even, and the tiles have the same level..
The following pictures show the filling of the grout, and how the tiles look afterwards.
Finally, we had to renovate parquets floor. This required the sanding of the parquet floor first. Thus the new tiles were protected once again. Parquets were renovated after few days gap. You can see how the wood looks after the sanding is done.
And, the vitrifiation of parquets.
After the ‘parquets’ – now it was the time to put the sink, and “install the furniture in the kitchen”. You can see the tiles are installed between the kitchen table and upper cupboard. Under the kitchen table, the washing machine is also connected with the pipes. And, hence our job finishes.
